A simple song to help a congregation prepare to hear God speak – whether through Scripture, a sermon, or through the revelatory gifts. The essence of the song is a call that the Holy Spirit would "guide us into all truth" as Jesus promised in John 16:13.
The lyrics reference several Biblical images about how we should receive the Word: as daily bread, as truth, as life, as a light for our path, as transforming power, as promises from God, and as a foundation for faith.
The most obvious place to use the song is before Bible readings or the sermon, but it’s also useful for leading more general times of response and openness to God.
Scriptures: Psalm 119, John 16:7-15, John 6:22-71, John 17:17

lyrics
[V1]
We come to hear your word:
Lord, open up our hearts and lives again.
So let your voice be heard:
we're ready to receive this daily bread.
[C]
Your word is truth and life to us,
so light the way.
As we believe your promises,
renew our faith.
[V2]
We come to hear your word:
let revelation shape our hearts anew.
We long to know you more:
come, Spirit, lead us deeper into truth.

The whole album is a great idea with lots of good execution. The track "Arise, Shine, for Your Light has Come" is a stunning standout. Our church used it four services in a row! Kent Reeder
